Mumbai : Directed by Praveen Arora, Dhai Aakhar is a classic love story that beautifully depicts a woman’s struggle to find her own identity. The film is set to release across the country on November 22.
Based on the novel Teerthatan ke Baad by senior Hindi author Amreek Singh Deep, Dhai Aakhar tells the story of Harshita, a woman who endured years of domestic violence and a humiliating marriage. She connects with a famous writer, Shridhar, through letters, but her relationship with him, as a widow, is not accepted by a patriarchal society and her family.
Will Harshita be able to face the challenges associated with this? What will be the fate of her family’s hatred toward her relationship with Shridhar? Will their love flourish? The film Dhai Aakhar attempts to find emotional answers to these questions. Director Praveen Arora describes Dhai Aakhar as an Ode To Love, highlighting how love has the power to transform lives.
Renowned actress Mrinal Kulkarni from Hindi and Marathi cinema stars as Harshita in the lead role, alongside well-known actor Harish Khanna and prominent Marathi actor Rohit Kokate in key roles. The screenplay and dialogues for this film were written by author Asghar Wajahat. The talented team behind the film includes lyricist Irshad Kamil, Hindi and Bengali music director Anupam Roy, and singer Kavita Seth.
The film was shot in the scenic locations of Uttarakhand. Produced under the banners of Kabir Communications, Aakriti Productions, and SK Jain Jamai, the film had its world premiere at the prestigious IFFI (International Film Festival of India) in Goa last year, where it received a positive response from audiences, critics, and the film industry. It has also been officially screened at the Chennai International Film Festival 2023 and Dehradun International Film Festival 2024.
